Found this hidden gem today............

Actually sitting behind a red barn since 1992!

It's in rough shape, but when you are told to come get it for free and haul it off with the pink slip, it's kind of a no brainer!

Check out the SPID......... 1523FC Special Paint? Can anyone explain this?

I will post pictures when I get to my computer, phone wont let me post pictutes.

You can’t beat free! Seems likely it was not a special “white” paint but interior says otherwise? Maybe it was white and XYZ two-tone that was painted over partially?

I've spent a lot more for less truck in the past, and that looks complete and pretty solid. Nice find!
Now, watcha gonna do with it?

Re: Found this hidden gem today............

The partial engine is not original, GM Goodwrench 350 engine. But someone added power steering!

7/70 build date?

Metal door panels?

Re: Found this hidden gem today............

Look closely at the drivers door........... 3 bullet holes! 2 in the door and 1 through the door handle.

rust around the window and the back of the roof.

Re: Found this hidden gem today............

Interesting option, IP door lock
Individual person? door lock, is there a lock cylinder in the passenger side door? Am I reading it wrong?, Curious what that option means

Re: Found this hidden gem today............

7/70 build date: its a 1970 model

IP door lock- my guess is Instrument Panel Door lock, looks like the glove compartment door button is the locking version.

Metal door panels are correct- 1972 was the first year with plastic panels
Based on the lack of an engine listed on the SPID and the VIN starting with CE it would have had a 307 V8 originally.
TH350 is correct for a C10 equipped with a 307. M49 is the correct RPO for auto transmission. The GM vehicle info packet does not differentiate between TH350 and TH400 only if it was a small block or big block.

Re: Found this hidden gem today............

I was able to get a picture of the casting number on the block that is currently in it.
Casting# 14016397
I found 2 different listings for this casting on 3 different sites.
2 sites say it is a 1977-1979 350ci. 2 bolt or 4 bolt.
1 site says it is a 1978-1985 350ci. 2 bolt or 4 bolt.

I did not take a picture of the other side of the block or the front for the date code. Kicking myself now.

Don't park it too close to your house. Looks like you got some termite action in the bed rails

Re: Found this hidden gem today............

The bed rails and the garbage in the bed will be staying behind the barn! I am getting the truck, not the "extras"!
