Crewcab door lock rods
just got my crewcab back from paint, went to lock it up and the rear door lock rod fell down the door.
when i fished the door lock rod out, also found this other rod laying in the bottom i have taken these doors apart a few times, but have never had to screw with the lock rods. as you can see, there is jack for access on the rear doors. i took the door handle out and tried to use a mirror and flashlight, but i can't make out a thing. tried to see how the other door is, but can't see nothing on it either. looked all over online but can't find a diagram or anything about them. was trying to avoid taking it completely apart again as i just put new window run, fuzzies, and 3/4 window seals in it. anybody know how or where the big rod goes? the door lock rod seems to clip into a plate with a rod connected to the latch. thanks |

Re: Crewcab door lock rods
That looks like the interior door latch rod . But could be the power door lock rod , separate from the manual door lock rod . Is that the original door ?

Re: Crewcab door lock rods
Is that the door in question in your last pic ? If so it is prolly the power lock accuator rod.
If you dont have power locks , that rod would be better off in the garbage instead of rattling around making noise for the rest of your life .......lol

Re: Crewcab door lock rods
ya, that is the door, and no, it's not the orig door.
it came from a '77 sub with manual winda's and locks. i welded up the body trim holes quite a few yrs ago and stuck that fatmat all over the inside and out....don't recall the big rod being in there.... i have been trying to find a diagram or exploded view of a crew or sub rear door, but no luck can't lock the rear door |

Re: Crewcab door lock rods
Ok , looks like your short rod with door lock knob connects to a pivoting bracket. The long horizontal rod in your picture of the door is also conected to this pivoting bracket . On the other end of this long rod is another pivoting bracket . This bracket is located above your door latch assembly but not attached to it . This is where your mystery rod i believe attaches. It connects on one end of the pivoting bracket and runs down vertically and attaches to the door latch assembly. The difference i see between power and manual is the length of your mystery rod . On power that rod is longer . It runs past the door latch assembly and connects to a power accuator below in the door . A bracket attachement mid way at the latch assembly is then connected to this longer power window rod . This is where it appears your manual lock rod would end and attatch to the latch assembly. I dont know if i can get pics . Its tight
