Trying to figure out how my truck was lowered, spindles or cut springs...
New to me 1971 c10 2wd. It’s lowered. I was told it was with drop spindles but I am thinking not. Spindles look stock to me. Can anyone confirm?
Look at how close the bump stop is. That doesn’t seem right. Does it look like they just cut the springs? Wheels/tires have no horrible camber but there are a lot of shims. I like the stance it has. Can anyone estimate the drop? I will post tire size here shortly if that helps. Rear springs look aftermarket. They are blue. |

Definitely stock spindles. The front springs may have had a coil cut off, but they don't have the typical warping that happens when the springs are heated.
The rear spring "could" be a 4" drop, but hard to say for sure. Clean them with soapy water and see if there's any brand names or part numbers still on them.

Thanks for the reply. I am a “do it right” kind of guy. Any idea what drop spindles I would need to keep the front about the same level? The bump stop is so close there is little to no suspension travel. I am going to spruce up the brakes with new calipers, rotors, and add power master cylinder.

I just installed drop spindles from ECE and are very happy with them.

would this kit work by chance? I am wanted to convert to rear disc, and power brakes, I also need drop spindles and I wanted new front calipers and rotors, and brake lines. It is listed up to 1970, could it work with a 71?

For suspension needs, I only trust ECE. Here's the link to the spindles. -->https://www.earlyclassic.com/node/1154 Stock height springs. --> https://www.earlyclassic.com/node/650 If you want a rear disc conversion, this would be a good conversion. https://www.performanceonline.com/71...it-rear-5-lug/

Because you can just pick up rotors and calipers at your local parts store or from RockAuto.

Re: Trying to figure out how my truck was lowered, spindles or cut springs...
Sorry for the delay. Here is a pic of my truck right after the 1.5" spring and 2.5" drop spindle install. After driving around town it settled another inch or so.
