bad 454 engine mount?

Backed my 1985 K30 up a hill today and heard the fan come in contact with the lower part of fan shroud, barely hitting and it stopped once I was on level ground or going forward. I looked underneath truck, the engine mount rubbers looked collapsed and the oil pan was almost resting on the crossmember, hopefully new mounts will fix. My truck was hit in the front at some time in the past, both frame horns have a couple of inches of damage on each. Do you think this is an engine/frame mount issue or maybe frame damage?

Re: bad 454 engine mount?

basic store replacement rubbers suck anymore lots of guys are finding .

if me swap in to some energy suspension replacements that go in your stock clamb shells . and if there bad now would be the time to do the trans / t-case mount so you know all 3 are done .

sometimes they have all 3 in a package deals .

its snug but you can undo 1 side and jack the engine up and swap them out with out pulling the motor .

Never mind, I just looked at E S kit again, it has the trans mount, but not the T case mount.

Re: bad 454 engine mount?

I spend a lot more time under my 76 2WD pickup than the K30, so I was thinking the K30 had it's own trans mount ( senior moment) instead the T case mount is the only one there is. Here's some pictures of the motor mounts, frame horn damage and of the oil pan rubbing on the crossmember. I'l order the energy suspension mounts and post the results. Comments welcome on the oil pan issue, it kinda has me worried. Also posted pictures of the new rear springs I put on, so much better than what came off.

Re: bad 454 engine mount?

nasty frame horn hit hope it didnt get to far back in . could be fixed with heat and few tools to work it or front frame cut off of the horns and weld new pair on .

yep the engine is down and tight . new mounts will get a bit of correct gap .

the load valve if it even still works is bypassed by almost all now as there dead or never run a load to need its function . bypass is easy as remove the valve and run the line to the hose from the front and bleed the system out for the rear .

you might have a mutt truck post up a pic of the trans/t-case mount crossmember so you dont gt the wrong one if its been mix-n-matched .

were is the rear shocks ?

Re: bad 454 engine mount?

Here's crossmember photos. The old shocks were badly rusted, haven't bought new ones yet because I made an offer on a lifted Jeep CJ, if that deal goes thru I'll buy monroe gas magnums for the K30 and keep it stock height, if I don't get the Jeep I'll lift the K30, also picked up some rust free fenders and doors for the old truck.
