72 rear frame/bumper help

Hey folks,

I have a 72 Blazer that is almost back in one piece and I need a little help figuring out how to remedy some PO handiwork. Looks like a different rear bumper was fitted on at some point and I’m not sure what it’s supposed to look like back there (no rear bumper when I bought it).

The ends look to be cut off and brackets were “welded” on along with a trailer hitch which is also bolted and welded in.

What would you recommend I do to fix this? I’m very much learning as I go. Thanks!

This is a 72 Blazer frame with a pickup bumper bolted to it. Just ignore the bumper and the two bolts. What you will see is an un-cut rear frame with the end tab bent out. If that tab was @ 90 degrees to the frame it would be correct. I just have to bend it back. You can see the rear frame body mount hole as reference.

Hope that helps.
