Rear end options for a 62 c10
Ok so I just purchased a 62 stepside. I’m going to replace the front suspension from a 79 c10 . What can I do for the rear to go from 6 lug to 5 x 5 to match the front?

The rear should be an Eaton, don't think there is any 5 luggers for it. Tho a different type of truck, I had a 62 4wd burb that I swapped 3/4 ton axles into. Rear was a bolt in Dana 60 from a 78/79 Ford. Why not use the axle from the donor?

Take the axles out, replace bearings if needed, take the axles to a racing machine shop, have them fill and redrill the bolt pattern to what you need. Make sure they turn down the center of the axle hub a bit

The Eaton HO32/33 differential that is currently under your truck more than likely has 3.90 gears in it. Depending on what your plans are as far as engine, trans and rear tire size, you might consider changing the entire differential. The '79 12 bolt will work once you weld on the trailing arm mounts and a panhard bar mount, but it will also be 1.5" wider than the Eaton. The increased width may or may not be an issue depending on what rear tires you plan to run. If the width is an issue, look for a '63-'70 truck 12 bolt. They will be the same width as your Eaton and conversion axles are readily available.
BTW, I love those wheels.

I used one out of a '67 that had 3.73 as mentioned on 60-62 you have to relocate the trailing arm mounts and swap out the pan hard bar.
