1971 4 Speed Help
I have a 1971 Chevy 1/2 ton step side 4x4. The power train is a 350 with a four speed granny 1st. I have had this truck for about 4 years. It is a project for my sons and I to work on. The 3 of us were driving home the other night. We hit a bump in the road. It was like the transfer case shifted into neutral. I have no movement out of it under power at all. I can can start it and shift. The clutch is working well. But I can not get power out of it. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks PAT |

Re: 1971 4 Speed Help
You will get a better answer soon, shift handle bolt did not snap off? the flat bar across the high low is still connected? That's all I got, hope it's an easy fix.

Re: 1971 4 Speed Help
Check your linkage and your transmission mount underneath. I've had linkage pop out of place going through a ditch, and I've had a broken transmission mount cause a slight sideways shift that wouldn't allow the transfer case to shift. Two real easy checks and possibly a real easy fix.
