Tire size on lowered c20
Hey guys I have a 1984 c20 Scottdale with the Detroit diesel. I have a couple questions.. I did a 3 inch hanger and shackle lowering on the back and kept the front stock looks good. I'm running 285/65/17 (33inches) I'm really wanting to lower it more and was thinking of doing a axle flip kit on it. Would the tires rub on the bed? I also pull a trailer with my car on the back every other week. Is that even possible? To pull and still be that low? Need yalls wisdom and advice! 😊

Re: Tire size on lowered c20
Before I cut mine up I ran shackles and hangers and pulled 3 or 4 leaf springs from the bottom of the pack. Got a 5-6'' of drop. The spring back is so thick if you do a flip kit you will be in the 8ish inch drop range. You will absolutely need a c notch and that would seriously inhibit your ability to tow.

On the "opinion" side of things, a 3/4 that still tows and hauls needs to have suspension travel. Sometimes the good answer is to have things in proportion, rather than trying to go as low as you can. Good sideview pictures of your truck loaded and unloaded (not towing and towing) would help us give subjective answers to what you can do. Without seeing more, I would say you can't lower it further in the back and that an inch lowered in the front front might be all it takes to give it good proportions. |

Re: Tire size on lowered c20
So if I did not tow my car anymore think I could go lower or still running into the problem of the tires to wide?

Re: Tire size on lowered c20
Nope. Still going to make contact most likely w/the wheel set-up & the tall tires.
