Nice old boat for certain! This thread needs a full on side photo though.

I’ll get one in a bit, getting ready to take it to the lake!

Super! My dad had a 1971 GMC short wide 4x4 in the same color when I was a teenager. I cry a little inside every time I think of it and how I wish it were still in the family.

Re: My truck’s new girlfriend

I bought the boat from the manufacturers son, was built in the 60’s by a company called Plastics Unlimited in Redding California, has a 364 Buick Nailhead and a Berkeley Pump. It’s never seen rain, always stored inside and it shows! The hull is in excellent condition. Still has original seats. The paint is getting a little thin but still has a nice gloss, once I repaint the top half it will look brand new. Haven’t had a chance to get it in the lake (will do so in an hour!) but it fires right up and sounds awesome! Supposed to do 60 mph which is fast enough for me! The owner said it would pull eight skiers at once, I can’t ski anymore since I wrecked my spine but I’ll sure have fun dragging my kids and grandkids around the lake!

Got to go play this weekend, took my youngest granddaughter for a ride even, she didn’t like it! Don’t know why some pics won’t upload right side up, flipped it both ways and it stayed sideways!

nice boat, Im guessing thats lake Britton? , its the only lake big enough thats close to you , I used to go to Hat Creek all the time since I was a kid, my parents used to own property there and eventually retired and moved up there, they are both gone now , so hardly ever get up there , their place was on Doty Rd , the 2 story log house, not sure if you are familiar with that area, me and my boys used to deer hunt up there alot, I hunted up there since I was a kid, you live in a great place!

It’s Fall River Lake, it’s about 3/4 of a mile from my house. Not a massive lake but plenty of room a few speed boats!

Is that an outer drive or a jet boat?

It is a Berkeley jet. I was surprised how fast it planes, takes about 2 seconds if that. Lots of fun but I really had to get used to a jet, way different than a prop driven boat!

Re: My truck’s new girlfriend

Nice find! Congratulations. I love old boats. I've restored a couple of woodies over the years, and up until a few years ago when my wife's MS would no longer allow us to boat, we always had boats. I miss the boating life. That ski boat looks in superb shape. How did it run and perform?

It runs really nice! I was told it would do 60 but it seems to like 50mph which is fast enough. Taken it out 6 times now and have had no problems, except when I forgot to put the plug in it, got about 6” of water in it and ruined my phone.

Good looking combination! I like that it has a Nailhead. I bet a lot of folks don’t recognize that.

I was confused first time I saw it, valve covers sticking straight up took a second to understand! It’s got a lot of torque.
