Trans swap, crossmember help!
Hello everyone. I am currently swapping out my turbo 350 for a 700r4. The problem is the stock crossmember does not fit the 700r4. Does anyone know if a crossmember that will work? This is on a 78 gmc short bed with the stock sbc 350.
Thanks for your help. |

The crossmember should work fine . You just have to move it.

Re: Trans swap, crossmember help!
Ditto what Rich said, I did a th350 to 700r4 swap in a 84 and I used the same cross member.
Heck the th350 was a long tail and I even used the same driveshaft.

Re: Trans swap, crossmember help!
They are right, I have had the 350 and 700r4 crossmembers, and measured them just to make sure and the cross members are identical.

Re: Trans swap, crossmember help!
Well the 350 crossmember did not line up exactly to the holes on the frame. The 700r4 pushed the crossmember back towards the rear a few inches. Could only use 2 holes for mounting. I'm gonna drill out 2 more holes. The drive shaft actually works fine, no need to change that
