Steering column holder?

Hi All, I need some insight on the column holder parts for the 1972 GMC Jimmy 4wd. I recently purchased a complete 4 piece column holder that the guy was advertising as direct fit on the 67-72 pickups so I assumed it would also fit my Jimmy. Here is a pic of the holder and a pic of where I thought it was supposed to go but the bolt holes are off quite a bit. Did they use a different sized holder for the Jimmy/Blazers.. Secondly does anyone have the correct part I need..?

Re: Steering column holder?

the pc in your 1st pic is just the decorative trim cover. It attaches with large phillips sheet metal screws in the two smaller holes I placed the arrows by in the 1st pic.

There should also be a heavy metal plate and a weird bent flat strap shown with red arrows in pic 2. That is what actually keeps the column in place

Pic 3 is the other support plate that goes with the blue arrows. The rectangular holes in the bent lip, face the brake pedal and should have rubber bumpers in them that act as a bump stop for the pedals

Excellent tutorial Richard as always you have lighted the path. I apparently am missing that big plate. Would you happen to have one for sale? And how much.. thanks again ... - A.J.

I do not have any. I just sold all of mine to fred at specialty retail. Get up with him and I am sure he would be happy to sell you one.
