Got a couple of old trucks
Hi, this is my first post here. I really enjoy these old trucks. I have a 65 C20 with a 283 and 3 on the column. I also have a 68 GMC 3500 with a chevy 350 and 4 speed. Just a couple of trucks in their work clothes. |

Re: Got a couple of old trucks
Most farmers and ranchers had a half ton or a three quarter ton pickup for daily use and a straight truck like a C50 or bigger for hauling livestock and grain. The ton was kind of an odd size to have at the time. When gooseneck stock trailers came on the scene then you started seeing more ton pickups.

Thinking was different. Folks back then had been through the great depression, it it was on their mind that something like that could happen again. You ONLY spent money on things you needed. A half ton pickup was considered a pretty big luxury item back then. You didn't order any extra options like power steering , brakes, surely not AC. A 3/4 or one ton??? Most of the 1/2 tons were likely worked like their heavier duty models. |
