66 C10 Stainless or Chrome Door Mirrors Quality

Do these come in chrome or only polished stainless steel?
If so are the chrome ones any good?

I don't think I have seen chrome ones, only the SS versions.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

If I ever have the choice between chrome and stainless I always go with stainless.
I have not bought chrome ones but I had one that I shortened chromed and it is already showing sines of rust in spots.

I got them for Christmas a few years ago. I just installed them in the last month or so. My truck isn't running yet, but soon...probably next month.

Mine came with the truck,
S/S still looks good but they do shake badly.
If I bought another set would try the round ones.

Cal.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

I got my round ones from LMC. The stainless looks very nice but the quality of the glass isn't so good. They have quite a bit of warpage. Very noticible.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

For the actual mirror I got a convex mirror that was meant for a semi truck it improved visibility tremendously

I made a lame attempt to find some other glass to stick on but never came up with anything that would fit the exact size needed. I didn't want to attempt to cut them to size.

Where did you find yours?

Go stainless. Chrome will rust.

Everything I have bought in chrome seems to show signs of rust almost immediately.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

I don't know if this is the exact thing. But it is very similar. I had to drill the hole in the arm bigger.

Yep, used a similar one I got off Amazon,

Yes you do have to drill the arm hole out a little.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

I had the cheap chrome versions and they started rusting around the pivot pretty quick. Ended up using these “sport” style mirrors I found on eBay.

I ordered the stainless.
Does anyone have a template or measurements where they attach to the doors?

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

I bought from Classic Industries. Total crap on the black as they are already rusted all over. I'll be changing to larger mirrors in stainless.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

If you take the door panels off you can find the nuts welded on the inside of the outer door skin. An angle drill with a small short bit might work for back drilling. I don't know if templates are available or if I'd trust one given that these critters were build in so many different plants.

Re: 66 C10 Door Mirrors

My PS door didn’t have the nuts welded in on the inside so I ended up making my own stencil with the drivers side holes, that way you know it’ll be symmetrical.
