1972 Blazer need help!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 72 cst blazer 350 goodwrench motor ,th350 and 3.73 rear gears 4x4. It is a gas guzzler!!!!!!!!!!!!! Purchased edelbrock performer intake, and carb, and Hei. Someone has told me timing gears are not straight up in these motors. They are retarded,is that true? Will straight up gears help?I also wish to change to a new venture 4500 5 speed as I know this will help a lot. Does any one know of an adapter for the transfer case? I also need a set of original front buckets. I have good brackets but a NEWER set of IROC seats are mounted. A final question, the fiberglass top and tail gate are junk on my blazer. Can they be repaired or do I just order a soft top for it? Thanks in advance for any help. Moodyholler. PS I am also parting out two 68 short beds, 1chevy and one gmc, 70 blazer most all parts gone except for fair tub, and a 72 lwb. All trucks are 6 cyl. 3 speedds.

Welcome to the board! You'll find lots of parts around here, but location on the bigger stuff like a top is usually the kicker.
Try www.advanceadapters.com for any tranny/transfer bracket you might need. Matthew

It's a 30 year old 4000# 4x4 with a V8 and a slushbox tranny. It is ALWAYS going to be a gas guzzler !
Welcome to the board-- I have two just like yours ! The NV4500 might be a nice addition, but I doubt you'll see milage gains significant enough to justify the time and expense of shoehorning it in your Blazer. If you drive alot and are really concerned about mpg, get a Volkswagon TDI . If you want an old truck, get used to paying for lots of gas. It might be easier, cheaper and less hassle to swap in one of your 6 cyl 3 speed drive trains. As far as the topper is concerned- they come up for sale here periodically. Look for a single wall . ! Hatches are available aftermarket but expensive. ($400-$450 I believe.) I'd check with a boat repair place to see if your stuff is repairable. Don't just check Marina's, ask some boat type people to help find SOME GUY who does side work. They are out there in more ways than one (lot's of fumes in boat work ) I don't mean to sound like a smart a$$, but I've been going down this path for a while. I'm just trying to tell it like it is. Hello Moodyholler, do you still have the transfer case from the 70 Blazer, and is it the Dana 20 case? Please let me know.

No driveline parts left. I am in the process of trading for a 70 driveline no body parts will check it out when I recieve it. moodyholler

Welcome to the board from the Pacific Northwest. You might see some MPG gains on the highway if you add an overdrive or maybe fuel injection. There are a couple of guys getting in the 17mpg range with their K5's (I think BobbyK said he was getting in that range.) I'm getting in the 6-8 mpg range, but I have 35's, 4:10's and a pretty big cam. My carb needs some help so I'm sure I could see some improvements after replacing that.

Stock 20 gallon tank,TPI,RV cam,700R4,33"rubber with 3:73 gears, I average 13-16mpg.
It all depends on how hard I am on the gas pedal.:p
