Hardware for Door Vent Window Frame?

The hardware of the Door Vent Window frames for my 64 are long gone/missing. The paint shop pulled the windows out & the hardware was lost there. I've tried several small machine screws but nothing seems to thread (and I'm trying not to force things until I know what I'm dealing with).

Does anyone know the size of the hardware that's used to secure the vent window frames to the door channel sheetmetal? These are the 3 fastening points along the front/top of the door frame I'm referring to (circled in yellow):

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Hardware for Door Vent Window Frame?

When I rebuilt my vent window, replaced the originals with these stainless screws. They were a pretty close match. (They could be shorter, but these worked just fine.

Re: Hardware for Door Vent Window Frame?

Ok.... Sheetmetal screws vs. machined threads. That might be why I was struggling to get any hardware started . There were only machine bolts/screws in the bucket so I assumed that's what was installed originally.

Not too many old trucks around to compare/verify with so I was going to check my dually today. It's an 89 Square-body but I thought I would see if the retaining hardware was similar.

Did we ever figure out what the correct size is? I'm considering tackling this in the next few days myself.

I just did a dry fit w/the frames & used SS sheet-metal screws like pictured above. They worked fine. If I recall correctly, one screw did need to be slightly longer vs the others (I believe 3/4 & 1" were the lengths).

Pulled one of mine and it looks like 8X5/8". You can test the length with the vent window out. They need to go pretty much all the way in and not bottom out. The three tabs pull up flush to the inside of the door.

This seems correct. I had to use one longer as one hole just didn't seem to have adequate 'bite' @ the shorter length. Seems I used 3/4 & 1qty 1" (for the one hole). I used beveled SS screws as well.

Re: Hardware for Door Vent Window Frame?

Mine are a mix of #8x 5/8” and #8x 3/4”. The 3/4 seem to have been added over the years, because they’re a different head design.
