So Happy today, dealership bumper

I'm so happy today, I thought I would share. I bought a used dealership bumper from a used salvage yard. I have known of the bumper for a few years but finally pulled the trigger on it.

It was manufactured by Ruff Neck. The Perry Co. Waco, Texas U.S.A.

It is stamped Sanger Mtr Co. Sanger. Tex.

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

Although I do not know where my truck was originally purchased from, I did buy it in Sanger, Texas in 1997.

My plans are to de re-rust and repaint the silver and to paint the letters red as original.

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

The past year I have finally replaced both bedsides from an accident I was involved in from 2014. Both bedsides are factory 1968 long bed sides.

Thank you. I paid I believe around $60 or $65 for the pair. This was around year 1999 or 2000.

I can't find a price like that on plates these days. Especially 4 digit.

It's been awhile since I last checked on prices. I also have some unissued 1968 Hemisphere plates, however they say car on them instead of truck. I also have a whole stack of unissued 1973 Texas Farm truck plates.

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

Love the rear bumper. I have a similar one that's original to my '67 from Kirchhoefer Chevrolet-Buick in Nashville, IL. It's wasted, but I'll probably hang onto it as a future project.

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

I regretfully just scrapped the original dealership bumper from my truck that was exactly like that one only it said Wallace Baker Chev Co on the left and Beebe, ARK on the right.

It was just too far gone to save and I hated that as it would have been cool to have on the truck.

Love these dealer step bumpers. Did you ever get this one cleaned up and painted? If so, how'd it turn out and what silver paint did you use? Any pics?

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

I missed this thread first time around; glad it came back to the top. That's the best bumper. Dealer bumpers represent how these trucks were actually sold back then. I believe 0% had a factory or sport bumper. Mine is very similar but from D&D Bumperworks Seguin TX with big letters stamped for Doran Chev Inc Dallas TX. I still have the unused factory lighted license plate holder behind the bumper. I suppose this is so the truck could be sold to the dealer as street legal.

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

.

I would very much like to see that bumper all restored and mounted as OP most likely has done!

Nice bumper BTW. I got my YOM plates off eBay back in 2017. They were restored perfect and I paid just over 100 bucks.

Re: So Happy today, dealership bumper

I recently grabbed a dealer bumper but am in the process of some customization. Narrowed and filled in the letters.
