Because two blue trucks just isn't enough...
As some of you know, I'm nearing the finish line on my 68 GMC. My dad and I have had so much fun restoring his 64 and now my 68 that we had to get another project lined up. We had been watching for an interesting truck - anything from 1967-2014 and we came upon this one. The previous owner bought this truck in Arizona and put a lot of money and time into it, but ended up parking it for a year or so chasing other ventures and now decided to sell it at a loss.
It's a 1969 C10 LWB. Pretty low-option truck, but solid. It has very little rust, even less than my 68 did. It appears to be the factory paint. It's got the original 350 bored and stroked to 383 with Edelbrock heads, Weiand intake, Holley carb, roller rockers, ARP fasteners, and a nice serp drive system all backed up by a rebuilt TH400. He gave us all of the receipts for the parts and here's a list of the notable items: disc brakes all around, rear-mounted fuel tank, adjustable heated seats, power windows, new wiring harness, carpet, and gauges. It runs pretty well, the carb just needs some tuning I think. I'm not excited about the repop fenders and chrome inner fenders, but no big deal. We don't have a definite plan for it yet, but I've been showing pictures of black C10's to my dad and I think he's on board with it. We know we want to convert to SWB and do the bodywork. We also need to get a different set of wheels and tires on it soon because the front tires rub pretty bad.

Hey, the chrome inner fenders aren't listed on the SPID! That's not too shabby, '69 Blue. Are those 10" wheels on the front?

That rear bumper could throw some serious sparks one you lay her out.

That bumper has to go too. I hate to throw it out since it is brand new, but it's just not right.

Re: Because two blue trucks just isn't enough...
I should have taken a better picture, but I'm not sure the front fenders are correct as the grille doesn't line up with that contour. Thoughts anyone?

Re: Because two blue trucks just isn't enough...
It’s kind of blurry but those look like 68/GMC fenders when I zoom in.
Good project, that’s a solid cab for sure.

Re: Because two blue trucks just isn't enough...
I'm an expert at nothing, but I've never seen a 3.07 ratio listed on a SPID before. Seem s odd, but not the first time something like this..

Re: Because two blue trucks just isn't enough...
That is odd to have 3.07 ratio listed. But, it would have been an option with the 3spd I guess. Didn't they come through with 3.73s?
What I meant was 10" wide wheels on front? If the leading edge of the fender isn't indented for the grille to fit into, you have '68 style fenders... '68 Chevy/'68-'72 GMC. For '69-'72 Chevy the fenders were indented to accept the full grille surround.

I'm not sure on the wheel width, but they could be 10" wide. I might have a lead on some factory 69-72 fenders. We can certainly go aftermarket, but I'd rather find some nice original sheet metal, even if it has a little rust. I'm torn as to whether to go all out on the bodywork and strip everything or to polish what's left and fix the rust and match the factory paint.

Re: Because two blue trucks just isn't enough...
I think it was a 3spd originally because no trans option is shown. I like the only paint what you have to idea and polish the original paint. That's good paint and yours doesn't look too far gone. I wish trucks like that were still sitting around here.

I found a couple original fenders - they're not the right color, but are 69-72 Chevy fenders and in great shape so I'm pretty excited for those. I also found an original shortbed complete, so we're off to a good start with original sheetmetal.
