What is this?!
Started as an innocent clean up and detail project but ended up taking off the front and top of the engine to clean, paint, and detail. Took a few pics so I could put it all back together. It for the life of me don’t know where this came from and dont see it in n only of the picks. In all likelihood it was black and covered in 40 years worth of grease like everything else.
Pretty sure it’s from the power steering pump side but for the life of me, can’t figure it out. Looks as if someone may have hacked at it with a grinder on the inner curved part. Also, was originally an A/C truck but compressor is long gone. Everything seem to line up without it. But haven't started or drove it to see how if its stable/strong and w/o wobble.

Looks like the alternator mounting bracket. Not for sure.

Re: What is this?!
Alternator and Smog pump seem to be pretty solid and look like what I remember and the pics.
I think its pretty likely that 1 of 2 things happened: 1. part of A/C and PS pump mounting 2. mismatched bracket and PS pump used Looks like some good ol' boy shade tree mechanicing and improvising using available parts. Although, for the most part this truck isn't hacked up that bad. At least not compared to most old trucks I've had. But for the life of me, I cannot find this bracket on any Google searches. P.S. I hate having let over parts.......

Re: What is this?!
Its not from the A/C compressor. It looks like a power steering pump bracket but not like I've seen on a truck. I'm not familiar with the smog pump brackets but maybe looking through the parts illustration book linked here would help. Scroll down a ways and the parts books are under the Light Trucks Parts Books on My Server... header
