Crankshaft End Play

So i was messing with my 5.3 yesterday and was wondering if the crank had any up/down/ side to side play and although it didnt it did have some front to back movement. I know it is supposed to have a little bit but how much is too much? the engine supposedly has 175k on it and was pulled from a tahoe for oil pressure problems. I would like to just rebuild it but for the cost of a budget rebuild you can buy another JY engine right now. Thanks

Re: Crankshaft End Play

my 2002 suburban with 5.3 delvoped oil pressure issues this year at 238k miles it turne dout to be the pick up tube oring a 4 dollar oring now oil pressure is at 70psi idle, my 2000 tahoe with 5.3 at 369k when i replaced engine and transmission still had 60psi at idle and had never had anything done inside but was running and leaking more oil then bp did in the gulf..... so its hard to say why your lost oil pressure but 5.3s area dime a dozen in wrecking yards

Re: Crankshaft End Play

Standard spec for end play is

End Play: 0.04-0.2mm /0.0015-0.0078

5.3 oil pressure issues is most likely excess bearing clearances and bypass valve issues in the oil pump...

Thank You. I am going to check everything out just for peace of mind but almost everything I have read has said oil pump or gallery valve or some o-ring on the pump. seems like these things will last forever other than the oil pump issues.
