Walbro 450 with factory EFI hanger PSA
I posted this in the sloppy mechanics private FB group, but I wanted to put this here as a PSA.
My turbo LS C10 has a Walbro 450 in a factory 88 EFI blazer tank. The pump is on the stock hanger and 25a fuse, 12ga wire/relay to the sending unit. I lost all fuel pressure the other day. Turns out the pump is fine, but the factory bulkhead connector nearly caught on fire. I was thinking about redoing the tank setup anyway, but just a PSA that the Walbro pump (or any moderate/big HP pump) may draw more amperage than ANY factory wiring can handle.

Yeah I'm not a fan of sketchy wiring heating up inside my fuel tank. That's why I posted. To hopefully save someone else from burning their truck down.

It's as simple as not knowing. Not knowing what the capacity of that terminal can handle which is 14a and the current draw of a 450 which can be found easily. Which is why I made these hats, fits stock tanks, proper terminal rated for 30a A closer shot of the roll over valve.. cheap mild steel ball got replaced

Re: Walbro 450 with factory EFI hanger PSA
High amperage draw with the aftermarket pumps is only one reason I chose to use a factory PWM pump for my LS swap.

That's just fine until you have 80lb injectors to feed

Re: Walbro 450 with factory EFI hanger PSA
I do not have a race car. The guy at Vaporworx has said that the CTS-V pumps will handle 80 lb injectors with his controller and dual pumps will do over 1000 hp.

A quick google search says the factory CTS-V uses dual bosch pumps with around a 20A draw at 60PSI. According to 87chevy that is still more than my factory 80's blazer wiring bulkhead will do. Although it's less than the 25+ continuous amps of the Walbro 450. What kind of tank are you using?
