S 10 driveshaft value ?
Hi Guys,
I put my old S 10 driveshaft on the local Craigslist yesterday asking for $80 ($50 USF) It is from a regular cab long box, and is the aluminum and fiber glass? style. It is 62 1/4 inches long, center to center of U joints, and has a 4 inch diameter A guy just called me about it and gave me the feeling that I am 'giving' this away at $80. Am I missing something here?, what would you guys value this at? as always, Thanks for your advice

Re: S 10 driveshaft value ?
shortening a long aluminum driveshaft is about 100 bucks. lengthening a short aluminum driveshaft is about 250. so the guys who will want it will be shortening it to fit their application.
that said, I have sold a few of those exact driveshafts for $50 ea. one I gave away because no one bought it.

Re: S 10 driveshaft value ?
It all depends on how bad someone needs or wants one. I think that Joedoe has a pretty accurate of the actual value of S-10 parts though .
I've seen S-10 parts that frame swappers had up for sale locally on FB or Craigslist and they are usually there for months on end. S-10 body parts have little or no private resale value around here unless one of the farm workers needs parts for his truck. Most running and driving older S-10 trucks around here get driven to work six days a week.

Re: S 10 driveshaft value ?
OK, Thanks Russ and Mr48,
I figured if I could get $80 for something that was scrap to me, I'll take it. I needed a 56 inch driveshaft and found one from a 69 Skylark. It fits perfect. Thanks again,

Re: S 10 driveshaft value ?
it might be that he thinks its a composite driveshaft, but that is just a cover in case the u joint goes bad and the driveshaft rubs the gas tank.

Re: S 10 driveshaft value ?
I wouldn't drop my advertised price below the 80.00 you have it at though. That might get you 50 cash in hand if not a bit more. You could advertise for ten and someone would offer you five.

Re: S 10 driveshaft value ?
Hi Guys,
Just a follow up. The guy called me yesterday, showed up, and took the driveshaft for $80. (did not even try to lowball me) He has a 1988 S10 with a SBC and he wants a spare driveshaft. Thanks for your help,
