shifter linkage spring
having to buy a stock shifter linkage assm. I am not sure what that intails as far as pieces. Have a guy wanting to sell me the rods only. I think I would be still missing the ear on the tranny, and the spring. I have the frame bracket. would also need the bushing I think. What does that spring do and what is it purpose. A picture of the assm. would help. Thanks mine is a 78 auto Silverado

Re: shifter linkage spring
The whole design is meant to let the engine/trans move slightly but keep the shift mechanism working properly. The spring keeps tension on the linkage but lets it move when needed. you will compress the spring to get the linkage into the ear on the transmission then the spring keeps tension and the linkage from falling out.
Part for the transmission. https://www.inlinetube.com/products/...8aAmgfEALw_wcB More parts if you need them. https://www.chicagomusclecarparts.co...age-auto-trans
