i checked my interchange manual and that number doesnt even come close to being from any chevy pickup 67-78

It's an Eaton. Most likely a full floating. It's not a locker, just an open carrier.
Do a search for Eaton and you will find a TON of info on this rear. It has been discussed extensively. If you have some questions about it though...post 'em.
