Side trim hole location?
My 65 Fleetside never had side trim and I never drilled any prior to paint. I plan to 3m the trim on as I’ve seen on this forum. The trim strip was not painted on either and I plan to use a vinyl stripe between the trim. If someone could give me the vertical measurements from the crease down to the top and bottom holes I’ll run the vinyl trim width at that location. Thanks.

Re: Side trim hole location?
These are the holes I want to locate but not actually drill so I know where to put my stripe.

Re: Side trim hole location?
Is it on this one? I'm sorry I don't know if it's my monitor but I can't read the numbers. Do they use the crease to measure from?

Re: Side trim hole location?
I got some info from a guy who measured his holes for me. He says the top row of holes is 1 7/8" down from the crease to center of holes. The second row of smaller holes is 2 1/2" down from that, center to center. So the stripe is 2 1/2" wide.

Re: Side trim hole location?
I plan to do the same exact trim addition with the 3M and vinyl stripe to my '65 one day, so this thread will come in handy one day when I need the measurements.
Thanks, and Good Luck! |

Re: Side trim hole location?
It will take some measuring and figuring, especially where the front of the stripe curves up but I have the measurements I need to get started.

Re: Side trim hole location?
In nearly 4 years mine has held very well. I did have to remove one long door molding because I had put it on backwards.(one end is thinner to allow clearance when opening the door). To remove I ran strong fishing line behind it. I did drill one hole per side for the front spear.

Re: Side trim hole location?
I did holes with the OEM clips. Worked perfect, nothing has fallen off in the many years since.

Re: Side trim hole location?
I have looked at that drawing from the assembly manual a bunch of times. I understand the measurements for the bed for instance are taken all from line "25". But, I have yet to see how they established line "25". I see that people have measured from the crease line to mark the holes, but no measurements that I have seen show how the factory established line "25". I plan to add these to my 63 as well.

Re: Side trim hole location?
Doesn’t that just twist your butt when the factory leaves out an explanation on a measurement, like they pulled it out of thin air
