74 / 88 Suburban ?????????
I recently bought a 74 Suburban , LS Swapped and drives great , But the interior / seats need help . Had an upholstery shop tell me $3600 to recover the seats , front bench , 2 rear benches .
Have just bought an 88 Burb with better seats , will they be a direct swap to the 74 Burb , Bench front and both rears ? Also want the Seat Belts as they are 3 point , same question , will they be a direct swap to the 74 ? My plan is to swap these items if they are a direct swap then resell the 88 Burb once we get it running . Any help much appreciated , dont have possession of the 88 Burb yet . |

Re: 74 / 88 Suburban ?????????
I believe all 7th generation Suburban's (1973 - 1981) used a common floor pattern so the seat bolt holes should all be there in the floor.
They all use a common wheelbase of 129.5 inches... Question...Are you changing the door trims? Are both vehicles fitted with either wind up windows or power windows? Not sure about 3 point seat belt mounting points on door pillars....I dont believe the 74 has them .... Hope this helps out...

Re: 74 / 88 Suburban ?????????
Both have manual windows , not changing anything there on either one . My 74 has full outside trim , uppers and lowers , the 88 is a plain Jane version with no trim , was a Fire Dept truck in Texas .
Just got the 88 home so I can start investigating what will interchange . |

Re: 74 / 88 Suburban ?????????
The 74 Suburban does have provisions / mount holes in door pillers for the next one doing what I am .
Also it appears the floor seat belt holes are the same . |

Cool. I know it's not essential for your task at hand, but let's see some pictures!

Unfortunately I have never figured out how to post pics here . I wish it was as easy as it is on Facebook.
