66 c10 framed door window

I building a 66 short fleet with a big back window that has framed door windows. Near as i can tell this was an option in 66 as most other trucks i have seen do not have a frame around the door glass. To convert mine over to frameless is it as simple as acquiring the regular track and glass and installing?

Re: 66 c10 framed door window

I've only saw that on one other truck in person.
It was a 66 that I definitely should have bought. Totally missed the boat. There's a thread in here about those windows with the wrapping like that.

I've read that framed glass was laminated safety glass and non-framed is tempered safety glass.

I had heard that also. I will be going with the tempered non framed install as the replacement parts are available.

"Its standard on C60-C80 and was an option , sort of a Heavy Duty option , less chance of the glass getting broken. Laminated Glass as its called , came with the frames. Optional on all C and K models 10-50 series"

Re: 66 c10 framed door window

It is different when a laminated window breaks. It stays put and just kinda spiderwebs. I can see why it would be considered a heavy duty option because of that. But the glass itself sure doesn't seem any more resistant to damage. Mybe even less resistant.
