Re: Tilt column pivot ball

Try U Tube, I watched a video a awhile back about disassembling and reassembling a tilt wheel column. That pivot ball part was tricky.

Re: Tilt column pivot ball

Watched lots of videos . I found a good one that covered my issue . They had the same problem . Install at 90 degrees found that difficult . I removed the column from the truck . I found a another tilt column at you- pull - it 115 dollars with the intermediate shaft .when i added the tilt i used one from a heavy spline shaft . One could not disconnect and lift the shaft to 90 degrees . This one needed work also . Had trouble getting the key assemblly out because someone broke the lock . Lots wd-40 took care of that . The 3 srcews that were in there since. 1977 were troublesome . Ended up grinding a screwdriver flat and adding vice grips for more torque . Now i have 4 steering columns . 1 three speed , one automatic non tilt , one balless tilt and the latest .
