Napco Transfer Case Mounts
Hopefully this will help someone. So in the process of restoring my 1956 Chevy 3600 Napco pickup I'm learning a ton about what is and is not available for these any more. Most recently I've rebuilt the transfer case, mine has the Timken/Rockwell T-32. I was able to download the parts manual (PB-90202) from Meritor's website (https://www.meritor.com/literature-on-demand), which is a great help as it lists dimensions of seals, bushings, shift linkages, etc. Simply search for T32 and a pdf manual can be downloaded- T-221 transfer case manuals are also still available. The part numbers are still able to be to cross referenced with Timken and SKF as well for bearings and seals. Meritor no longer stocks parts for these however and I had to make a few parts myself. Besides the transfer case the rubber mounts are no longer made or reproduced and are much different than the mounts used on the Spicer 23 transfer case used in newer Napco setups. I also was able to download an old copy of an International service manual for the T32- seems more of them were used in IH trucks in the early 50's.
The seals took some time to find but here is what I was able to find: Hi-Lo range shift rail: National #7840S Declutch shift rail: National #472394 Input/Output shaft: National 30300S- Speedi Sleeve #99193 The National 30300S seal appears to no longer be available and crosses to a National 472394 or SKF 19360 but these seals are .312/.313" wide and the 30300S is .500" wide. I ended up finding some 30300S seals and used them instead. I had to make a new main drive gear bushing. With help of the parts catalog I ordered a bushing from McMaster Carr (#7965K58) and bored the ID to the correct size, cut it to length, enlarged one oil hole and added a second to replicate the original. Being stubborn I searched just about every rubber isolator catalog I could find and emailed CAD files to suppliers trying to find something that would work. Finally I stumbled across the Pioneer Auto parts catalog and found mounts that are almost identical and for a couple Dodge applications oddly enough. Pioneer #'s 622667 (lower) & 622014 (upper) are what I found- I got them off Rock Auto but O'Reilly and RockAuto also carry them as A2014 and A2667. The 2667 is a upper transmission mount for a 1974 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 and the 2014 is a transmission mount for a 1953 Dodge Coronet. The 2014 may have to be trimmed but I'll find out once I mount the transfer case. Also, the ID is 3/4" on the isolators and the original bolts are 5/8" so I made steel bushings to accommodate this and not have to modify my original brackets.

Re: Napco Transfer Case Mounts
That is great news on the manual, wish i had one when I rebuilt mine. Lucky I have the Napco repair manual but as you know Napco numbers do not cross . I can now add good numbers in my book ..
Jim Carter has a few parts for the transfer case. Also has the mounts,in stock for short money. https://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/...0&i=19714||||| Last edited by sack54; 01-28-2021 at 05:50 PM. |

Re: Napco Transfer Case Mounts
Not the greatest picture but it shows the Spicer 23 mounts from Jim Carter- still in the bags- next to the Timken T-32 mounts.

Re: Napco Transfer Case Mounts
on my IH tcase, on the input/output seals, I couldnt find the wide ones either...so I doubled the narrow ones...there was a slight seal groove wore into the yoke sleeve anyway , and this gave me double seal , one on each side of the groove..

Re: Napco Transfer Case Mounts
So the rubber isolators worked perfectly. I did make steel sleeves for the ID of the isolators- the tops needed sleeves with 3/4" OD and 5/8" ID and the lowers needed 7/8" OD and 5/8" ID. Easy enough. The top isolators have a lip that sits down into the steel bracket, I had to trim off some excess rubber here to get it to fit properly but it was not unexpected. One step forward on this restoration. Having some engine issues now with bad news from the machine shop but thats another story altogether.
Anyway- here are some pictures.
