Oil dipstick and tube, and engine stamp decoding
77 K10 with a 350 here. Previous owner installed some crappy chrome AutoZone oil dipstick tube on the drivers side that doesn’t fit properly - it spins and moves and pulls right out. Does anybody know the proper dipstick I should buy? Looking on LMC doesn’t show me anything at all, and everything on Summit looks completely different, I’m not sure which I should buy
Also, I wanted to see if anybody could help with a stamp decode. I found this on the passenger side front, just behind the alternator. Two sets of numbers First - 014740C138 Second - V0801CKD Thanks!! |

Re: Oil dipstick and tube, and engine stamp decoding
The GM part number for the upper dipstick tube is 3993359, the dipstick is 3981019. Take a look at some of the Corvette parts catalogs- they have a lot of these parts. https://www.corvettecentral.com/c3-6...tick/?count=26
Also, sometimes you can find NOS dipstick parts on EBay or other sites searching with the GM part numbers. First - 014740C138- appears to be the partial VIN of the original vehicle it was installed in Second - V0801CKD: V= Flint, Mi engine factory, 0801= August 1, CKD= CKD 72 350 175hp 4BBL,TH CA,CH,EC,MC,NO CKD 73 350 175hp 4BBL,CE,TH CA,CH,NO,PA CKD 74 350 160hp 4BBL,CE,TH CA,CH,NO,PA CKD 77 350 180hp 4BBL,HA,TH350 CO TH- turbo hydramatic trans CA- California emissions HA- high altitude CH- Chevelle CO- Corvette EC- El Camino MC- Monte Carlo NO- Nova PA- Passenger Car

Re: Oil dipstick and tube, and engine stamp decoding
Thats what it appears like- you can also see if that partial VIN stamped in the block matches the truck VIN but based on the suffix code it will not.
