stock exhaust photos

Does anyone have any photos of a stock exhaust system on 73-87 Long bed pickup with the 350? I need to get mine done since my exhaust stops after the mufflers under the bed. I put turndowns on them but its too loud inside the cab. This is what's on my truck now.
Thanks

Re: stock exhaust photos

dont have a picture but summit and many others suppliers sell the entire factory looking exhaust kit that you just bolt on. you have a choice of rear bumper exit or side behind the wheel exit.

Factory exhaust was single exhaust, 80's era had the dual tail pipe, 77 may or may not have had a cat. If you want to kill drone, any exhaust shop can bend up a set of tail pipes for you to fit what you got if you want to keep your existing duals.

I like keeping things stock or returning them to stock in a lot of instances on these trucks. Exhaust however is not one of them, just because of the sound and performance benefits of an upgrade. That said, this is really good information Axle. Very specific. Thanks.

If you do want factory style duals, all diesels had factory duals if you want to rob the brackets from them.

Good call, that's good info too. I'm not the OP, but I'm more than happy to pick up ideas. Thanks

Re: stock exhaust photos

Not sure how much this will help you. On my '74 K20 I used this Dynomax dual exhaust kit- its been on the truck for 20 years so its not as pretty as it used to be. It was easy to install and everything was included like hangers, clamps, donut gaskets, etc. The stainless tips are extra and not included with the kit.

Re: stock exhaust photos

I bought the "Heartthrob" brand dual exhaust kit. It appears to be the same kit that LMC, JC Whitney, and others sell. It's 2.25" mandrel bent pipe, and is available in several different configurations, with glasspack or turbo mufflers, and side or rear exit tailpipes. It installed easily in the driveway, then I went back and added a crossover after I put in my lift. With the long turbo mufflers and the crossover, it's not much louder than the stock pipe, but there was a noticeable seat of the pants power increase, and around 1-2 mpg improvement on the highway. I did take the advice from a thread on this forum, and ordered different hangers. The ones that came in the kit would have been difficult to use

Re: stock exhaust photos

Thanks everyone. I will just have to get a small kit to finish off the exhaust and exit behind the wheels.

Re: stock exhaust photos

Adding 82/83 diesel exhaust. Note the down pipe differences to get around the cross member for the later trans crossmember with the passenger side hump.

Re: stock exhaust photos

My local NAPA sells universal truck tail pipes that fit most trucks and exits out the sides behind the rear wheels. I don't know if all NAPAs do. I plan to try them on my truck unless I buy a complete exhaust kit.
