Chrome Alternator & Water Pump

I have a 1980 C10 with the 350 V8 Vin code L. What is in your opinions are the best chrome additions. I am keeping it stock, just want to shine it up a little..

Sorry I’m not a mechanic, I appreciate your help.

Thanks
BR

Well, since you asked, in my opinion the best chrome addition to an engine is none! It is hard to maintain and will eventually rust and look horrible. At least that is my experience. But to each their own.

Agreed. I even paint the edelbrock aluminum intakes after I sand all the advertising off of them

What Corts60 and kwmech said. No chrome under the hood.

Re: Chrome Alternator & Water Pump

I will chime in here. It's all opinion anyway. I'm pretty much a no-chrome guy myself. However, high quality chrome is a good protector against rust and easier to clean than paint. Might make the dust and dirt more obvious though. If chrome is a look you like, I would avoid the little bits and pieces and go for the air cleaner and valve covers like on muscle cars. I would emphasize the engine itself, not its accessories or the braking system or anything else. You want your eye drawn to the important component rather than to the perimeter of the engine bay. Design principles at work here, but in the end, it's still just another opinion.

Re: Chrome Alternator & Water Pump

I like chrome valve covers on SBC always have. I dont mind chrome on other parts of the engine bay either. The tough part with chrome alternator and water-pump is that lower priced chrome items are generally made that way cheap and will fail sooner then later. If you want quality chrome parts you are going to have to pay for them so may not be worth the hassle.
