'63 -'66 hood air intake

As you know there are two air openings in the centre front of the hood. to the right of the right opening and the left of the left opening there is a space that goes all around to the side of the hood, which opens up slightly to the interior area of the hood.
Has anyone ever tried to close off that space so all incoming air is directed solely to the radiator?

That would be tough to do and make look good. If you have a cross flow radiator, there is room over the rad support to put a intake. With a few more holes cut in behind the hood latch you would be set.

I have.
I am just looking to see if there a way to get more fresh air through the rad.
I don’t have an overheating problem - I have just never really looked at the hood design before in the 30+ years I have owned the truck and wondered if this has been tried before.

Some of the Medium-Duty trucks do just that. Here is my '65 C80 with a factory close-out panel-

Re: '63 -'66 hood air intake

I didn’t know such a piece existed.
Now I will have to see if I can find a pair.
Thanks for sharing that.
