60 GMC Long Step
Picked this up. Actually pretty solid. 305V6 3/4T w/coil spring rear. Plans are to get it starting and stopping and go from there. Original 17.5 rims are in the bed. Looks like it probably had a camper on it. Will need a GMC tailgate at some point.

Such a nice find and the 17.5's are a plus! Congrats. Are those original shocks?

Re: 60 GMC Long Step
Looks like overloader shocks. Probably extra support for the camper.

Re: 60 GMC Long Step
Very cool! It’s weird that is has coil springs. I always thought only the Chevy c10 had them and the gmc had the rear leafs. It gets confusing between all the different models lol. Great project!

From http://6066gmcguy.com/index.php GMC 1500 will be long bed only, but may not have a pickup box, will have 8 lugs on the wheels, 1960-1962 will have torsion bar front suspension, and coil rear. 1963-1966 will be coil front suspension with leaf in the rear. Can be 4 wheel drive model also. |

Getting the brakes put back together. The V6 runs for first time since '89.

Great Job and progress getting it going and those tires sure do carry a large load rating.

Re: 60 GMC Long Step
Looks good Dwane! Do you like GMC more than Chevy or just happen to be finding more GMC's lately?

I like the uniqueness of them for sure, but has been just the way it has worked out.

Re: 60 GMC Long Step
Beautiful wheels!
You know I can’t say enough good things about those V6’s. They were heavily over-designed to be long running work horses. The even designed a tray that catches oil so the camshaft dips the lobes on every revolution. Brilliant. Not much power and can’t rev high; terrible gas mileage. But, you know, amazing.
