Im looking for a driveshaft for my pickup. Its a 1971 C10 1/2 ton with the long bed on it. I swapped the 3 on the tree for a colomn shift automatic. Im running a 350 backed by a TH350. The orignal driveshaft is the two piece with the carrier bearing in the middle. Anyone got a driveshaft that is shorter to fit this ive been told they came from the factor with this configuration. Or would it be cheaper to just have my driveshaft cut down to length?? Help!!

Where are you stationed? I have a two piece that came out of an automatic truck but it would be cheaper to have yours shortened than try to mail this one.

Something doesn't sound right. I think a 3-spd and a TH350 short shaft (like comes in our trucks) are the same length and same front yoke. Your old one should be correct, unless you put the engine in the wrong location or used a medium or long tail shaft TH350. If you did either of these things, no one elses stock driveshaft is going to work in your truck, anyway.
Find out your exact measurements before you ship one in...or you will be stuck with one that doesn't work.
If you can get it cut reasonable, you know it will be right for your truck. Good luck.

Now that I think about it he's right. Mine won't do you any good. The last one that I had shortened cost around $60.

I did the same swap. A short TH350 is the same length and I used the existing drive shaft as it was. It is a direct bolt in. If you did use a longer tailed TH350 then you will need to have yours shortened or change to a custom 1 piece drive shaft.
