How many 1194's are there in our dash lights?
I am collecting LEDS to change mine.

Are you talking indicators or back light?

Backlight I want to say 8 if you do the heater control back light at the same time.

Indicators....depends on how your truck is optioned and what year. If it didn't get gages it got idiot lights.

There may only be 8 though:

I know this doesnt help much, but its something.
Just buy 10 bulbs and be safe and maybe have some extra.

I have an extra gauge pod it has 9 spots on the back. This is for one with gauges and a brake light where some clocks are. Then the one more for the Heat/Air condition panel.

Might want to pickup a can of aluminum paint. If you take the gauge pod apart clean it up and paint it aluminum. It helped a lot with mine. You will need to remove the metal clips and circuit film. Its real easy, just takes time. I painted the inside of the plastic where the gauges go and the back of the gauges and the plastic piece that goes over the gauges.

I already did the AL paint trick ten years ago...........it really did help but it don't keep bulbs from blowing out.
I ,in no way, want to take that thing apart just to replace a bulb or two as it is plastic and won't take many times taking it apart before it breaks.
If I put in LEDS all at once.........I will never have to worry about it again.

Some who have tried it said the LEDs dont sprea the light enough. I would consider the conversion. Let us know how it goes and get some pictures. We know you have a digital camera!

I doubt LED's will be bright enough. The way the bulbs are spaced out on these things really sucks. I don't have that problem now, well except for the heat/ac control panel. I'm going to do something to it. Haven't decided what yet.

You are right that standard LEDS may not spread the light enough nor be bright enough but,
There are several new LEDS out ($10 each!) that are VERY bright and spread the light pretty good. I waited for these to make it to the market for 2 years. They are finally out there!
