Was there any type of fan shroud seal installed factory? Do you recommend one, I hear the running temperature can drop just by sealing the top.

I installed this OEM shroud to fit better than factory, they either just threw one on or the core support was replaced, which I doubt. Can't speak for the radiator beyond it's "original replacement". Anyway, there's maybe a 3/8" gap on top, and about equal along the sides.

Yep, mine is the same. With old radiator, I taped the gap which helped keep the temp from creeping up while in traffic. But, with a new aluminum radiator, the temps stay normal and taping the gap is not necessary any longer.

Yeah, probably should have got an aluminum radiator, assuming they come with a port for a heater hose. This radiator is a piece of junk

It had the structural straps, but I cut them off

I may try foam insulation tape, see what happens, though this won't be driving much either way.

When I replaced my old style 4 core with a aluminum 3 core, I had a large gap between the radiator and the shroud. I got some expanding foam seals from Lowes and sealed top, sides and most of the bottom. Worked great. Don't know if it's the new radiator or the closing of the gaps, but it is running cooler, especially at idle with the A/C on. My old radiator was in pretty good shape, just cracked and was leaking at one of the tubes to side tank.

That looks like the stuff I used. It was labeled expanding foam sealant. I actually had to use 2 layers on the sides. So far it seems to be working and staying in place. For once something worked like I thought it should.
