HEI Fitment

I have 62 suburban factory 283, will an HEI fit without any mods to the firewall, cutting,hammering etc. Thanks

I put an HEI in my 63. I didn't touch the firewall. It's real close, but I haven't noticed any ill effects from it. Haven't checked that one plug wire in awhile though, so I'll try to remember to check it next weekend when I'm back home with the truck

Measure from the coil wire center to the firewall on your points distributor.
The hei is 6 inches in diameter.
You’d need about 3.5 inches for it to fit and move freely.
