Re: 73-75 vs 76-77 bucket seats

Yes 73-75 foam is different shape then 76-77. Not sure if actual frames are different but I do know one difference is gonna be the rear bolt hole spacing is different, 73-75 is spaced at 3.75 inches and 76-77 is spaced at 5 inches. The only time this becomes an issue is if your trying to set up the seats in a truck with truck brackets. If your using k5 brackets to go into a blazer than it doesn’t apply as that 2nd inner bolt hole isn’t used. Besides that I believe the seats are identical

What exactly are you trying to figure out to do? If you have a set of 73-75 seats and want to trade for a 76-77 set I have 3 nice pairs.

Re: 73-75 vs 76-77 bucket seats

Thanks for the reply

I’ve got two complete sets of seat and brackets. the later brackets and seats are in better shape and I would rather use them but the holes in the floor of my 73 k5 seem off. I know that the seats are blazer seats I took them out..Plus to complicate it I have distintive industry seat covers ordered for the early seats.

I’m trying to cobble one set out off parts

Re: 73-75 vs 76-77 bucket seats

I saw your post on TCKR's thread and thought I would ask here - instead of there - about the differences between 73-75 and 76-77. If you would post some pics of what you got that would be great, there is insufficient info out there regarding squarebody buckets, IMO. What you have could be helpful.

I was lucky enough to score some "medallion" style buckets that I now know are 76-77 seats, but my goal is to reupholster them into 73-75 versions. I am wondering if there is any reason I could not simply refoam and recover them, or if there is some structural difference that means I should abandon this idea.

Re: 73-75 vs 76-77 bucket seats

Oh, I might have mislead you...I didn’t put the covers on...I had a shop do them. ....I delivered to the upholstery shop the repaired frames (needed welding) the new covers from distinctive industries, the old original covers, the new cushions and the old cushions.....and some pics of what they are supposed to look like....and said fix this....lol

With that said the cushions just kinda set there....he may of put a tiny amount of glue on the, but they are an excellent fit and would stay on there own

Re: 73-75 vs 76-77 bucket seats

I was thinking maybe I should try it those look so nice. My original foam is such good shape no holes tears and is nice and supple. Just want them to fill out the cover as nice as what you had done. Looks like those covers are PUI brand with wire and a few places have them or closer delivery estimates. Thanks Ill post mine when they get here in June or so. lol
