1987 Short fleet worth?
About how much would a 1987 2wd short fleet with a 305 and auto tranny be worth in CA if the body was straight and mechanically in great condition but needing minor interior work?

You need to post some pics and give more details. Check Ebay, and www.traderonline.com too.
If it's "really" clean it should bring 3500-4500....

I've seen them go for as much as $7000 - $8000 here in the Atlanta area if they are really clean. I was offered $6500 for my 1987 truck this past weekend. (I am still pondering it)
My father-in-law has an 1985, unbelieveably clean, Two-tone black/silver, no rust, 1 owner truck forsale at the moment for $5500. It's in Cleveland Tennessee.

I don't own the truck. If I become owner I'll post pics. I don't know anything about these year trucks and just trying to get some info. I only glanced at it and the body appears real straight. The paint looks like it will buff out but it has side decals that are weathered. I'm not sure if the decals that run the length of the truck below midpoint says anything or is just some kind of 3-4" stripe. I'm just going by memory and maybe only the cab has the decal. Any ideas if these trucks came with stripe decals. The truck is white.

Pics and details
Ok here are some pics and details: 1987 Siverado 305 with TBI fuel injection, under 77k original miles, tilt , cruise, dual tanks, some kind of factory striping that is badly weathered but body is dent free and rust free (except surface rust where door striping wore off and near tailgate emblem. Tailgate and bed is as straight as it could be. Lady drove it to CA from Arlington , Texas in '89. She claims it came off the dealer lot with the True spokes. It has one missing spinner on one wheel. Spinner has blue bowtie in center. Two cracks on dash. Worn seat upholstery, both interior door straps are broken. AC needs charging. Runs smooth and just passed smog with flying colors. Everything else is complete and stock except new heavy duty radiator. One mechanic maintained since '89 with records. It has a heavy duty bed mat (real heavy) not pictured.
What do you think the value of this truck would be

Well... I got mine for 5500, but it was a show truck. It has all new engine/tranny. Its powdercoated and an all new updated interior. These trucks dont cost much, they are a dime a dozen.

Since you are in CA, that truck isn't worth more than $2500. But up here, it could fetch $3500...if it is as rust free as you describe.
The low miles and FI are a nice feature though...and it would make a nice truck should you purchase it.

Thanks for your response guys. The truck is now sitting in front of my house and I already hauled some stuff to Goodwill in it and hauled a sofa home tonight. While inspecting the truck for leaks tonight I noticed the strange looking tranny pan and ID'ed it online as a THM400. I didn't notice any leaks but who knows what I find when I clean it up. What is a good way to clean up the chrome spokes if it isn't too badly pitted? They look pretty brown as it sits right now. Also, were these spokes offered as an option or could these with the striping be a dealer add on?

That truck is gonna be worth alot IMO Because its the last of the mohicans being an 87 its fuel injected cruise control Apears To be pretty clean .. You could always get more for it in yankee states because vehicles rot up there alot easier on acoutn of the salt and whatnot.
77 thousand miles on an 87 model truck isnt that bad i know people who have 2002s with that much on them Ive seen wheels like that before but as far as i know there not factory pull them off clean them up insde and out and look for GM or something on the inside of the wheel if they are factory there bound to have Gm on them More than likley a dealership add on |
