Carpet Difference?
What are the differences in the types of ACC Replacement Carpets?
I find 80% rayon/20% nylon With or without “MASS Backing” What are the advantages of the MASS.backing? I see it’s thicker that the non-Mass carpet and says it’s better for sound deadening and heat shielding, but will the extra thickness give any fitment issues with my Gas Pedal 70 with the two floor mounted “Ball Studs”. The carpet that’s in my truck now is not factory, and has a thick padding under it, that makes keeping the floor mount accelerator pedal in place a PITA. I’m wide open for comments guidance and opinions |

Re: Carpet Difference?
I used the ACC 80/20 carpet with mass backing and would buy it again. I did cut off part of the edge binding on both sides to allow for a better fit under the sill plates. This is also what the factory did, at least on my truck. The first two pictures below are the original carpet. I removed the area between the 2 arrows so it matched the original.
I was also concerned about the studs. Frankly, I don't recall if I made any changes there. If I did it must have been something minor. I do not have any problems using the original accelerator. The third picture shows the installed carpet with the ACC carpet mats in place.

Re: Carpet Difference?
Always buy with the mass backing , when it arrives take it out of the box and spread it out to allow it to relax from being stuffed in the box and get rid of any box wrinkles , on the driveway on a sunny day or somewhere warm and dry works .

Re: Carpet Difference?
Thanks to both of you for the guidance and tips.
I’m about to tear into my truck to finally get it finished. The new carpet will complete the interior. |

Does the carpet just sit on the floor and get held in place by the seats and sill plates? |

Re: Carpet Difference?
The carpet just sits there. No adhesives needed.
Another tip. Have a round bar, some old sockets, and a propane torch. Anywhere you need a hole pic the appropriate size socket or rod, heat it up and melt a hole in the carpet. This will singe the fine fuzz together and make for a really professional look and make assembly much easier (the fuzz at the edge of a hole is notorious for finding its way into the threads of your fastener). |
