front end rebuild suggestions
I am looking for some advice. I've got an 85 GMC sierra, 2wd that for the exception of a V6 to V8 engine swap and front swaybar is totally stock. Truck has got around 140,000 miles runs great and i love it but would like to improve the front end. Without going crazy, could anyone offer suggestions that would tighten up the steering?

to tighten that steering, i would recommend the following:
idler arm pitman arm inner tie tods outer tie rods this should dramatically improve steering response. if you still have probs, then you might want to consider changing out the following as well: a-arm bushings ball joints of course, changing out all of these would be best, and an alignment afterwards, of course.... if still probs, then you might need a new steering box, but that's last thing you would need to do. good luck!

I just rebuilt my front end. I did all the bushings, inner and outter tire rod ends, upper/lower ball joints, swaybar bushing and end links. I got all that stuff from http://www.p-s-t.com for $309. You'd still have to buy the pitman and idler arms seperate.

Do you know what brand of parts they sold you? Did they have the needed grease zerks in them? Was you $309 price include shipping? Was it a kit with PST part number?

I'm not sure what brand the parts are. All the parts did come with Zerks, and the $309 price did include shipping. I'm pretty sure shipping is free in the lower 48 states. The kit has seperate part numbers for each item. Check out the website if I left anything out.
