Wheel and tire selection

Hey fellas, im having a hell of a time trying to figure out what i can fit under my stepside. I am looking at 16 inch wheels (for disc brake clearence in the future), i want to run a 9-10 inch wide wheel with maybe a -19 offset. more if i can. i measured off the mounting face for the wheel (off the brake drum) and came up with 6 inches before my fender wouldnt clear. so im wondering if my math is right on this... 10 inch rim with 0 offset would be 5 inches, plus a -19mm offset would be roughly 5.75 inches. does my math work? i really dont want to pull the trigger on this and be wrong. these are online orders.

Your math’s good but only one problem.
A 10 inch rim is actually 11 inches wide. The rest of your numbers are askew because of that.
Have you seen this link. It’ll help you fit the right sizes.

Re: Wheel and tire selection

The needs & dimensions will change once those "future disc brakes" come into the equation. Disc brakes increase the track width vs the drum brake track width.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

There are a couple tools on the market that could help you, one is a “wheel right” by Percys, available in Summt or Jegs. You can set your desired wheel width and backspace as well as tire size…its not perfect but will take some of the questions away

Unfortunately they don’t have one for a 6 bolt hub.

Piece of plywood, drill + bits, hole saw, & 2pcs of ~3/6 x 6" all thread will do the same thing if you like the reassurance of using something like that.

I have a couple of angle steel pieces from the hardware store (just like the article linked by Geezer#99). One is for 5x4.75 car pattern; the other is 5x5 truck. Same principle as the plywood set-up I suggested though. I use them or a wheel that fits & do the math from that. It's easy enough to do the measurements from there.

For the record.... Those images were from the linked article provided by Geezer#99. Mine are similar so I just posted those as I don't have pics of mine in-use.
