Has anyone insulated the inside of the doors??

I'm asking not so much for heat reduction, but for some sound deadener.

When I close my doors, it sounds like an empty oil drum.

I was told that just a few pieces of dynamat, placed i a couple of locations, will help.

Will the dynamat possibly interfere with the window operation??

Any responses will be appreciated.

Yes you can add like a 4” square piece, that’s really all you need. Just stick it real good to the inside of the door sheet metal. It will not interfere with the window.

I have done it many times, personally I cover as much area that is accessible, but I also use an extra adhesive…years ago some came off in the door, it was a nightmare, have had no issues since using the extra adhesive…

Agreed, i have and always will do this. Also, add to roof. I am installing a custom headliner and there will be soundmat there also.

I did a couple of strips to the inside of the outer door skin (above and below the hip line) and then a strip to the inside at the bottom of the inner panel. I have power windows and there is no interference.

50% coverage is just as effective as 100% coverage for sound reduction. The butyl rubber backing is dampening the vibrations in the sheetmetal, it only takes 50% coverage to do the job, no need to waste product and add weight with full coverage.

There are other types/sources of sound that Dynamat style products do not help reduce. Sound Deadener Showdown was a good source for products and info on making the interior quiet but they closed and the website is down. You can still access the info posted here-

I did mine with Kilmat. Went like 70% on outer door skins. They say 50% is all you need but I went a bit heavy because I wanted my doors to have a good feel to them when they close. You know, like a luxury car.
