Purple Power is pretty effective. It has lye in it, so treat the rinsate with care.

Re: Best Degreaser
I use this stuff that is for cleaning condenser coils. Best cleaner is the cheapest cause you can use more of it.

Re: Best Degreaser
Oil Eater is my go-to now. It works incredibly well.

Re: Best Degreaser
For general purpose degreasing I mix it 50/50 with water and spray it on. I have a 1 gallon sprayer from Home Depot that I keep filled with it. It rinses off with plain water.

Re: Best Degreaser
Another vote for Purple Power cleaner. I buy it in a gallon jug and use a heavy-duty plant sprayer.

Re: Best Degreaser
Simple Green full strength works for me. Let it soak in then use a brush & rinse. Some areas may need repeat. YMMV

Spray Nine and a nylon bristle brush also works rather well . . .

Re: Best Degreaser
Just be aware many of the cleaners mentioned will leave a residue that will need to be removed before painting.
