5.3L connecting rod

My first LS teardown. I have never seen a rod that was not flat at the mating surfaces. I went to the machine shop and saw several that were the same as mine, but mine being a little more pronounced. Is this a normal looking rod end mating surface?

1st time down this path and I even flipped a bit when the #5 main cap is on backwards by looking at the dimple castings. I had to check that too.

Tahoe had a lot of miles. The rod bearings are GM STD and the mains are .010 GM. The Tahoe was running when it hit the tree.

The rods were working but the mating surfaces looked a bit off.

Re: 5.3L connecting rod

I think I've heard that they have a complete rod then they snap off the bottom so that they will only fit perfect with the correct rod.
