Fleetside Rear Bumper Question

Does anyone know what rear bumper this is?
I found the pic on the net. I guess there is some difference between the 60-62 and the 63-66 rear fleetside bumpers. Can anyone expain the differences to me? I have a '58 fleetside I would like to install that bumper on, and I would like to know what all is involved. Thx, Lee

Lee, Since the '60-'62 and '63-'66 trucks used a different frame the mounting points are what the difference is. You'll find the bolt holes are a couple of inches out of sync from one frame to the other. Also the earlier trucks used forged brackets, and on the later trucks they were stamped, but not certain if that would make any difference. Both front and rear bumpers are pulled off my '61 now, let me know if you need some measurements to compare with yours. My guess would be that you need a bumper from the earlier years to fit your '58 frame. Tony

Lee, According to the assembly manual frame width 60-62 at rear frame end 41.72", 63-66 is 41.82". Not much difference. Putting the tape to my frame (61) I get 41.75". The bumper brackets are bolted to the frame rails and are set outward 14" for the outer mount hole and straight behind the frame rail for the inner. The mounting holes in the brackets are slotted .75" for adjustment R to L. The ends of the brackets are 9" behind the frame rail end at the top corner of the inner bracket. Center of mounting holes on each bracket is 14". I'm thinking the fit of the bumper is all determined by which brackets you use, provided your rear frame width is the same, or within .75 inches, of the later trucks.

This is a 58-59 fleetside, but the factory bumper looks gross. The 60-66 bumper looks much cleaner.

Rear Bumper

The bumper in the picture looks identical to the one I removed from my '59 GMC. Have the brackets and the bumper ( needs rechroming ) available since have decided on something else for the rear of my truck. Let me know if interested . Bob

60-66 rear bumpers are the same for the fleetside. The bumper
brackets are where they differ, 60-62 are different than 63-66. Hope this helps.

Unhappy 58-59 Hard to find

Lee,

I sell New Chrome Reproduction bumpers (with the drop down center - for the license plate viewing) for Chevy and GMC.
The years for Fleetside are shown as 1960-1962 and 1963-1966.
I also sell new reproduction Stepside rear bumpers in painted and chrome finish for 1955 (2nd series) through 1959. Sorry - no new reproduction rear bumpers listed for 1958-1959 Fleetsides.

PS: If it is a 58-59 rear bumper you are needing, then I would email Cdn.Fleetside59 as from the sounds of it he has what you are looking for?

my 2-cents worth...rico_bob
