Why not buy the flexplate (flywheels are for manual transmissions), converter, converter, starter, and flexplate bolts (ARP), and starter first? With those purchases out of the way you can bolt the trans to the engine and drop it in the frame.
Try and buy stuff in related groups together...it will eliminate the chance of forgetting something. Then I'd buy the balancer, balancer bolts, pullys (if needed), TC cover (if needed), timing tab pointer (if needed), etc.... After that, get the rockers, valve covers, air cleaner, etc.. Just my .02...good luck either way.
