I have one. What’s the problem with the aftermarket? Mine is still in the box. I will think about letting it go however I do have an NOS gate as well. Can’t decide if I should keep them together.

i found one yesterday. but to answer your question im not sure on the difference. it's just that im in the habit of buying nos made in USA cant beat original Nos GM im sure many years of restoring mid year corvettes has something to do with it.

I couldnt tell you the difference between original and after market but i have aftermarket, it seems it doesnt have enough clearance from the tailgate itself so paint chips on the tailgate. Since original poster past on it, price dependent, i would like to get in line for it.

I bought an aftermarket handle for my restoration. What a mistake. And what a piece of junk. I couldn't make it work and just threw it in the trash. I found a good OEM and just blasted, cleaned and used that. No comparison between the two.
