Brake Line Help
Good Afternoon everyone. I am slowly rebuilding a 66 C-10 and curently working on the brakes. I am keeping the 4 wheel Drum brakes for now but I want to add a brake booster and new master cylinder, a couple of the hard brake lines are broken and I was going to replace all the hard lines, but I have gotten conflicing information from a couple people. When I bought the booster I was going to get the new lines, I was told the lines I was going to get would not work with a booster, so I asked which lines I needed and he said he didnt know, just not the ones I was going to get.
So My question is what kind of hard brake lines do I need to get to replace them. |

Re: Brake Line Help
Are you staying with the single pot master for now? If so just measure the length of the line coming out of the old master. Add about 4" and buy a universal length from any car parts store. They'll have a bin full of various sizes and lengths. You'll have to bend it to fit. You can first make the shape using something like coat hanger wire and then copy it.

Re: Brake Line Help
You can buy different quality benders. This is a cheap example. Just be careful not to crimp it.

Re: Brake Line Help
Dual masters are either drum/drum or disc/drum. And the brake line routing is more complex than the single pot. You'll need a proportioning valve.
There's a whole section on brakes in the FAQ section. |
