Re: 1955 59 Firewall brake petal setup
I am using a factory set up from a 2004 GMC Envoy. it has the drive by wire accel pedal as well. it is a large bubble that bolts on through a hole in the firewall and sets the whole pedal and booster into the engine bay a little. maybe good if you are a tall guy. the pedal assy does unbolt from that and has a bracket you could modify to fit under your stock dash if you want. I suggest to go with a hydro boost as it takes less room under the hood and works awesome. you will need a power steering pump to operate it though.

Re: 1955 59 Firewall brake petal setup
here are some pics of the assembly with the firewall plate, etc
it has a hoke with bellows for the steering column and also a hole that the wiring harness came through. the plate, like I said, would't need to be used if you don't wanna cut up your firewall. I used the firewall and floor from the envoy because my project truck was that far gone after sandblasting. |

you can easily see that the pedals, bracket and booster could be used without the plate. the bracket can be cut down to fit under the dash as you see fit. even the booster could be swapped for a smaller one, if you wanted. it mounts through the plate with 4 bolts.

there are other GM vehicles that mount similarly, depends on what you want. auto or standard, cable for throttle pedal or drive by wire.

Re: 1955 59 Firewall brake petal setup
no problem. I have a 57, currently, and used this setup because I had a scrap envoy. you could also not use the entire plate but keep the section with the hole and bellows for the column since the original column hole is larger, depends on the angle and how the steering column you use exits the firewall i guess.
